Silences/XVIII

Loneliness comes cheap & easy these days
Dark lady glimmering on a four-color poster
Sinatra in compact disc & MC Hammer on video
that keep all screwing in electronic monotone
why salvation, kabayan, is a ticket to Rome
Madonnas to lay, boxes of beer in a dry afternoon—
Life, after all, is a package deal
of hurt, jouissance, or cocaine overdose
Yes, poets who strike a sad, sad pose
are in curio shops textual mannequins
for sentimental clients to show off, adore;
whose songs are mnemonic run at market prize
for brown foxes to quote, rap or transmogrify
rheum & broken guitars into antiseptic jives
A bargain sale of sad, sad poets on file
Loneliness comes cheap & easy these days
